Ingredients:
For the Fritter Batter:
-
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
¼ cup granulated sugar
-
2 tsp baking powder
-
½ tsp cinnamon
-
¼ tsp salt
-
⅓ cup milk
-
2 large eggs
-
2 tbsp melted butter or vegetable oil
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 ½ cups peeled, finely diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
For Frying:
-
Vegetable oil (for deep frying)
For the Vanilla Glaze:
-
1 cup powdered sugar
-
2 tbsp milk (adjust for desired consistency)
-
½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Batter:
-
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla.
-
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until just combined. Don’t overmix.
-
Gently fold in the diced apples.
2. Heat the Oil:
-
In a heavy pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
3. Fry the Fritters:
-
Carefully drop tablespoon-sized scoops of batter into the hot oil.
-
Fry in small batches (4–6 at a time) to avoid crowding.
-
Cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
-
Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.
4. Make the Glaze:
-
In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
-
Dip each fritter or drizzle the glaze over them while still slightly warm.
Serving Tips:
-
Best served warm!
-
You can also dust with cinnamon sugar instead of glaze for a classic bakery-style taste.
Storage:
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
